Holyship Dragon Boat Team
Who are We?

Holyship Dragon Boat team is a recreational-competitive crew based in Mississauga and is comprised of paddlers who are new graduates, young professionals and those who are ‘young at heart.’ The team culture is built around training, practices, community, camaraderie and having fun! And yes, we love to compete!

The team started as a group of dragon boat enthusiasts from the Toronto Chinese Business Association (TCBA) and Mississauga Chinese Business Association (MCBA) who were looking to pursue the sport as athletes, competitors and teammates. In 2015, they joined forces and became Holyship Dragon Boat team. Since then, the team has developed, grown, and matured to include a network of alumni + seasoned paddlers.

Now, ten years later, the legacy of the team continues to thrive with a core group of paddlers returning from the previous season! In 2025, the team will be coached by Donald Lee who is a seasoned paddler and brings more than 20 years of coaching experience. Donald’s CV includes 3 World Championships and experience as an official representative with GWN, Dragon Boat Canada, and the International Dragon Boat Federation. Clearly, Holyship Dragon Boat team members will benefit from the wealth of knowledge and experience Donald brings in training and leading crews.

Team Philosophy
Effective training that does not feel like torture
Through our weekly practices, we aim to break out of the conventional method of training to make our sessions both challenging and engaging. Whether you’re an experienced paddler or a newcomer, the coaches and captains will work hard with you to ensure that you are getting the best out of our program.
Social Cohesion & Community Involvement
Outside of Dragon Boat, we’ll do everything from fundraising, group events, or just a dinner night out. Biking, dancing, archery, skating, random road trips or weekend getaways? We’re totally down! And yes….we’ve also done our own makeshift version of Sumo Wrestling. Alongside our social events we engage in community service and fundraising activities for charitable causes.
